Sometimes I’m hesitant to talk about my cats, in the same way that many of us are careful to steer clear of politics at family gatherings.
Only 5 of my cats go out but only uptil 3pm then they come in. I heard cats can live outside but this weather is brutal. Our cat prefers to be outside even in this weather - we always leave the kitchen window out for her to come and go as she wants if we don't she's likely to wake you up at 2am to be allowed out I have two strays that frequent my yard, every winter I pull out their shelters that I built for them, I always make sure there is water and food for them, I am always switching out frozen water for nice warm drinkable water. A cat needs shelter during the long, cold winter nights—just big enough for a cat (or a few), but not for a dog, raccoon, possum, skunk, or other outside creatures. She will stay out for long periods in moderate weather, but not for long at all in the cold—so far. He was constantly hanging around outside my screen door. I also have a storage bin that I converted into a 2nd cat house in case they get pissy with each other. Personaly I think it's cruel for someone to deliberately leave their cats outside all night in weather . Kilo the Pug is not a fan of going outside in the cold and nor was Nala.Joey HATES the cold. i dont let him stay in at night as every time he has he has woken us up at silly o'clock to be let out, then again half hour later to be let in.
Cat's are more hardy than we give them credit for. My cats are indoor all the time.My cats are indoors only for many if the reasons listed! We have warm winters where I live but I would never let my cat suffer outside when it’s cold. He loves to go out in the 110° summer weather. If I’m cold in the house, I can’t imagine how bad it is outside for the poor ferals in our community. he has always gone out at night since he was first let out after neutering over 3 years ago. Feces can spread diseases including Toxoplasmosis, which in turn could cause your neighbor to get sick or have a miscarriage. I noticed it walking around in my backyard the first time about a month and a half ago. It should only take a couple of times for that cat to not feel very comfortable in your garden and avoid the place. A cat is said to have hypothermia when his/her body temperature drops below 100°F (37.8°C). I always feel so awful for the outdoor kitties when the weather is inclement. Cold weather can bring with it a number of dangers for our cats.
