Despite the march of time this had us all the family in fits of laughter, even the ones born after East and West Germany were reunited.
This film is so funny, did not stop laughing from start to finish. by YouTube Movies. Val Kilmer is very funny here as is all the cast. The directors of this film had already shown their comedy worth with all the Airplane films in the USA.. One part the friend and a colleague dress as a cow to sneak into a castle where the scientist is being held but comes across a randy bull, guess what happenes. I literally waited the entire movie for the jokes to start and was surprised when it ended because I really hadn't laughed. There's so much going on that if you blink you may miss a laugh. A much under-rated film of the highest quality. Other memorable jokes include the skeet songs, the anal intruder, the "cow" scenes, and the backwards bit with Peter Cushing. Was this review helpful? this car was not a triumph of marketing or design, the word Pinto in southern America means a male reproductive organ which is small, so no self respecting macho south American would be likely to buy it, the other problem was that it did indeed catch fire if rear-ended in an accident, if such an accident happened the red hot exhaust pipe would pierce the fuel tank and the car would catch a fire. They relied on visual gags. But during the 80's we had a series of gems of the genre and this is possibly one of the funniest. Long story-short, I Laughed-Out-Loud several times, and once I laughed so hard my wife literally stopped the movie to make sure I was okay. There is a great BLUE LAGOON parody, which may be out of date, but with Survivor as the latest fad it may pass. 2:21. Only thing though, is that I was lead to believe it was only Top Secret!. Furthermore, there are a few delightful small roles for authentic cinema veterans such as Omar Shariff, Michael Gough and my personal favorite Peter Cushing.
The resistance group is great, the escape, everything in here is really funny.
Blue Lagoon and Cloak and Dagger and The Dirty Dozen to name a few.

I've watched this movie mainly because I was curious to see Val Kilmer at his youth. When it was made it wasn't meant to be take seriously, so sit back enjoy the gags (some are very good) and is definitely value for money I think that they used 500 jokes in this movie, or maybe more. But yet...it's somehow incredibly entertaining. You just have to have seen parts of an Elvis movie over the years or saw a scene or two from an old espionage flick. In his first leading role, Val Kilmer plays Nick Rivers, an Elvis like pop star sent to Germany on a good will tour as a fill in for Leonard Bernstein. Instead of carefully crafting a joke or scene they went for pop culture references that immediately date the movie and make it unwatchable a few years later.
