Range mod is purely for clan battles, and even there spotter plane can do the job just as well.
Adren Rush = late game + rammer = MG42 of 8 inch shells
(Well, Yamato is undoubtely the best upgrade anyway) Getting 1.4 second reload but giving up 6.3 km range? More like, unless super close, most BBs have their citadel either behind stupid amounts of plating or not in reach of AP. You can do a lot, unless it's scouting, so you do what seems to be needed the most. Moreover, she retained the main battery guns with their high performance characteristics. Seems the only way to figure that out is to get that module, so I might switch my legendary priorities. Seems worth it to me though. Against BBs, just try not to get hit and burn them from a distance.
It's proof that beside the one that are clearly complete garbage (Conqueror and Montana ones, blergh), WG actually did a good job balancing them by really making them sidegrades with good and bad points. Did they nerf Hindenburg ap? I think they are wonderfull sidegrades that I will def be using once I unlock them.

7% is a very nice upgrade to have, if that gives me even more long range citadel and long range 15k AP salvoes, I think it's worth it. Range over 20km is close to useless. I can see its use in CB but thats it.
I just don't think giving up all that range for a miniscule 1.4 seconds is worth it. Few other cruisers can deal with Kremlin, Yamato and 50 mm deck cruisers like you can, very few can deal with a Kremlin.
And when you get cits, they hurt a lot. Hindenburg with its HE dpm and HE pen can pen Kremlin deck with IFHE and while not easy, it really helps dislodge the Russian bias when someone can actually produce some damage numbers. Did they nerf Hindenburg ap?
Well I own this ship which coincidentally has my surname for quite a while now. I might trade it for AR. It's impressive and only losing 2 second reload instead of giving up completely the reload mod is quite a nice trade. I just think that the way Hindenburg is currently, is kind of eh. To me the ships strengths are tankiness, amazing HE spammer w/ built in IFHE and incredible AP (at certain angles). I also prefer hydro, reload module and spotter plane.
If you run range mod Hinden in CB, you could as well just run a reload mod Yoshino and be better off. I just don't think giving up all that range for a miniscule 1.4 seconds is worth it.
The advanced way, imo, is to slap IFHE onto the ship. With the range module you kind of turn into this hybrid BB cruiser abomination that is pretty hard to kill but can also out DPM most things at range.
Im just telling what I prefer, this is coming from someone who doesnt use range on Zao btw. If you need to kill a DD, well, you are a cruiser with good ballistics and have the best T10 hydro. 7,981 battles [-RM-] ollonborre Lieutenant; Beta Tester; 2,000 posts; 7,981 battles; … In order to be able to use all the functionalities of our platforms, you must agree to access the API. I mean yeah time has caught up with the Hinden a bit but after the reload buff (and even before it) it is a nice allrounder. Then you are free to experiment with captain skills and modules since it is pretty versatile in that regard, but the reload mod is a 95% must unless you have a really good reason (and running a dodge build is IMO not a vlaid one). Do what I said above, but also consider yourself the specialist in removing hard to crack targets. The +20% rudder shift time is nice. I realize Vig is kind of redundant with German hydro but since putting it on it has saved my bacon a number of times as the Hindi is big and slow turning and i like hunting DD's. I'm going for Grozovoi's, Kurfurst's, Moskva's and Hindenburg's LMs, probably in that order. Id much rather have the DPM. I looked at that Republique module and thought it looked good.
i feel like CW is a lot more cruiser vs cruiser action, and randoms it's more dodging BB shells, so im not that interested in fire related skills(FP/BOS/high alert)
I love these LM discussions as people have so different opinions. I think they are wonderfull sidegrades that I will def be using once I unlock them.
