Since its premiere in 2015, iZombie has amassed quite a considerable following of adoring fans. iZombie: Show vs Source. Beyond the creatures themselves there are also a corporation of monster hunters and a government agency full of secret agent monsters.If you’ve read enough urban fantasy, you’ve probably seen all of these elements crop up in different stories, but The series follows Gwen Dylan, a newly turned zombie who works as a gravedigger. Rob Thomas was able to take Roberson and Allred’s comic and spin something totally new out of it. To put those memories to rest, she finds herself running errands for the dead.
She also takes on the different personas of the brains she has eaten, a bit of a change from the comics, and something that allows actress Rose McIver to really show off her skill.Given that the show was created by Rob Thomas, the man behind The story starts off as you would expect, with the zombies hiding what they are and doing all they can to conceal their identities.
Obviously the idea that zombies would be created by an energy drink mishap is ridiculous, but last season the show asked what society might look like if a major city in America was full of zombies, something the showrunners are continuing to explore in the final season.
It just finished airing its first season this week, and having seen the whole thing, I can definitely say it’s a series worth your time. The creators of the series, writer Chris Roberson and artist Michael Allred, clearly had a lot of fun delving into the different supernatural tropes and bringing them to life in new and entertaining ways. TOXIC. iZombie the TV show is more like a crime procedural with that same idea. I view theThe character arcs are, in fact, the strongest part of the comics, and the whole series comes to a very satisfying conclusion.
This has led them to look at real world issues like the effects of martial law, terrorism, and what happens when there’s suddenly a cure-all for any disease (albeit, at the price of living an undead life).We’ll see what the show does with all of these issues as it ramps up to its conclusion, as well as how all of the different characters fare, but I’m hoping that it’s able to address the issues it has raised in a satisfying way while giving all of the characters solid endings to their arcs.Both of these series tell great character driven stories and have really fun and excellent casts. The show's witty and somewhat relatable main character, paired with the crime-solving element and the paranormal vibe, are a great formula to get people hooked.
