We finished the first car and started on another one before I decided to coax him into talking to me.“I’m Mercedes,” I said, loosening an alternator bolt.
This site contains book reviews and lists of books and authors recommended by the Brothers Judd. Silver Borne (Mercy Thompson, Book 5)
A binge worthy read? It’s magic, not science. Like all its predecessors, it will shoot to the New York Times (and other) bestseller, top 10 fiction books. I must have read this book a minimum of ten times at this point. I don’t remember anything after we left the dance. Yet, I have never officially reviewed it. Until now. “I don’t know a lot about fixing cars, but I used to help my uncle keep his Bug running.”I believed he was strong: werewolves are.
I wasn’t going shopping tonight, so it didn’t matter if I got blood on my clothes. There were New York and L.A. restaurants where the rich and famous could be waited on by wood sprites or muryans.
There are relatively few regulars, and we leave each other mostly alone. Iron Kissed (Mercy Thompson, Book 3)
I found myself becoming quite emotional at Mercy's undoubted pain, none of which was the fault of the character.
His words sped up until they crashed into one another. He couldn’t have been the murderer, the lawyer told the judge, jury, and the rest of the world, because Kieran McBride was fae, a garden sprite, and he couldn’t hold cold iron, not even through thick leather gloves. In a dramatic moment, McBride dropped his glamour, the spell that kept him appearing human.
It takes an attack so vicious that the victim lies near death to allow the magic of the wolf to slip past the body’s immune system. “I don’t know.
If you like captivating romance, spooky suspense, and ghost mysteries, you'll love the latest release by Kathryn KnightThey say I’m a fallen god—they are wrong.
No, I don’t know where the extra weight comes from.
It merits a second read, there's a lot of detail that passed me by the first time.
This shopping feature will continue to load items when the Enter key is pressed. Something wasn’t right.Behind the two strangers was a big black SUV, the kind of car you’d expect bad guys to drive.“I don’t believe there is any way to undo what you did to me,” Mac was saying. Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson) Then I left him lying in the middle of the road and ran back to the garage.
There is a support structure to educate the new wolf, to keep him and everyone around him safe—but there are still the occasional attacks by rogue werewolves. I didn’t think Stefan would mind Mac camping out for a night or two.I called Stefan to make sure, because it’s unwise to surprise vampires.“Sure,” he said, without even asking who I wanted to let sleep in his van.
“Mercedes the Volkswagen mechanic?” His face closed down quickly, and he mumbled, “Sorry. I’d never met her myself, but he smelled of happiness not fear when he talked of her, so I knew she couldn’t be the harridan he described.“I came to see if you’d look at a car for a friend of mine,” he said.My eyebrows climbed in surprise. Patronizing even. You know it. A well-known televangelist seized upon fear of the fae to increase his grip over his flock and their bank accounts.
I knew better than to give orders to a werewolf—it’s that whole dominance reflex thing.Werewolves’ instincts are inconvenient—that’s why they don’t tend to live long. Click to find out.
I noticed the cat carrier sitting on my porch as soon as I got out of the car.Medea gave me a plaintive yowl, but I picked up the note taped to the top of the carrier and read it before I let her out.I undid the latch and lifted the cat up and rubbed my face in her rabbitlike fur.“Did the mean old werewolf stick the poor kitty in the box and leave her?” I asked. She smelled like my neighbor, which told me that Adam had spent some time with her on his lap before he’d brought her over here.
Had I not read the Kate Danielle's series of books by IIona andrews, I may have enjoyed this better, but the characters are similar, werewolves (Adam, Pack Alpha ) & a female who is not fully aware of her magic abilities (Mercedes). You're listening to a sample of the Audible audio edition.Something went wrong. Swoon.
I wasn’t moving quietly on purpose, but having been raised by a pack of werewolves makes you learn to be quieter than most.“Go away.” Mac’s voice came from the other side of Stefan’s bus. It made me grumpy—which isn’t a good way to deal with customers. “Would you give the Jetta’s owner a call and tell him his car is ready?” I nodded toward the first car we had finished. The Horn Book Magazine and The Horn Book Guide are the most distinguished journals in the field of children’s and young adult literature and the core of our company. “What do you want me to call you?”His eyes lit for a minute.
The packs watch the news and read the newspapers to prevent a new wolf from being alone—and to protect their secrets.Maybe no one had found Mac.
A great many of these were #1. But there is a reason magic like mine is feared.Compromise isn't in his vocabulary. Then I’d sell it for twice what I had put into it and find another car to resurrect.
There was also the problem of his being a werewolf, and a new one at that, if I was any judge. Supernatural critters from Wile E. Coyote's viewpoint I recently bought this version for my kindle as its a book I can reread. “Look I can’t talk long.” Pause.
He heard the command and stiffened, raising his eyes to meet mine. After a moment he mumbled a thank-you and walked through the door, shutting it gently behind him. I knew just enough about them to admit he might be right—but I worried anyway.
If you are a fan of urban fantasy, romance, fantasy and science fiction or any variation thereof, I guarantee you will enjoy this series (particularly books 1-5) and this first instalment forms the foundation of that. Expertly blending plot and character, each of these taut, propulsive tales possesses novelistic depth. Emotions have a smell, but only in my coyote form is my nose good enough to distinguish more than the strongest feelings.
